the still small voice of calm...

1 Kings 19:11-13...

I was reading a book this morning, and somewhere in the story it referred to this passage. I made me think, as this has been the topic of late recently, especially during the youth camp.

It has been said a million times, but I will say it again. Hong Kong is a busy place! More so than most other big cities I would say. All day, everyday, there are people on the streets, cars on the roads, lights flashing on and off, it really just does not seem to stop.

And being in a enviroment like this all the time, we get used to the hustle and bustle, that when we do get times to think and reflect, we often dont really know what to do, say or even think. And so, we expect things to happen amogst our moments of busyness, we expect God to show himself in some loud, obtrusive way because that's what our lives are about.

But here (in the passage) we find God in the stillness.....when everything is calm.

How can such a simple concept be forgotten so often?! It only makes sense that we find God in stillness and not in the 'rush hours' of life. For example, if you want to have a conversation with someone..(say you are taking Beyonce out on a date) where would you go? If you want to have talk to someone intimately, you dont choose the loudest, craziest restraunt. You go somewhere quiet where you can listen to each other. (......well at least that is what i would do, although after that though I would not say no to the idea of going down to the club or sumat and putting my dancing shoes on)

God, can so easliy be drowned out if we let it happen. If we want to hear him, we must turn down the volume of the world.

I agree. But how can we be competitive in this world and yet still have time to laze around and dwell?
I'm not trying to say u dont understand ("u dont understnad") but like in med school if i didnt work my butt off (and pray like crazy) I dont think I would've passed. So how? Just really good time management?
solution Ell, give us a solution.

Its a dilemma, coz i do agree w/ what u say but at the same time trying to meet the demands of this world. That's why i'm considering a specialty that would give me more time to do the things that are also important to meee
